Welcome, friends and lovers!
Two if By Sea has been a long time coming and we're excited to kick things off in the blogosphere. This little blog will be a labor of love (as most blogging is) but because we love style and writing, we plan to fall in love with it and marry it. Maybe even have babies, but let's just see how things go first. I'm a planner and I'd have to pick out colors for mini-blog's nursery. We would also maybe have to re-name the blog to something like 'Three If By Sea,' which could really impact the branding... oh God, ok, why don't we just slow it down and finish our first date, first... yes? Perfect!
That said, why don't we introduce ourselves?

Us over the years (RIP iZone Film). |
Who we are:
Niki and Niki (respectively - but you can call one of us Nicole) who are two best friends (forever... no literally, if you only knew what we have been through together, you'd understand.) Ironically, we met doing none other than... blogging! Of course this was circa 2001 before blogging was really even a term. We were basically just internet dorks who wrote a lot of nonsense and bonded instantly from about 978 miles away. We pretty much had all things in common and were just moving on to this little thing called college, so we we were all excited and anxious and full of youthful enthusiasm. Now, we're still excited and anxious but slightly more jaded - and definitely a lot smarter - but still insanely optimistic and happy. We just love life... and our 5,454 interests. But I digress. You will see exactly what we're talking about. Because we both have the attention span of a gnat, so we're constantly finding things we love and want to do and see and taste and smell... and share with the entire internet, obviously. We're going to cover things like french macaroons, custom bicycles, shark week and street style. Occasionally, we enjoy robots. You know, the usual. So now that you know what to expect from us, why don't you say a quick hi to each of us and then add that little link up there to your RSS reader. Because we know you have a whole folder for stuff like this; don't you dare pretend you don't.
Nicole: aka Uno, aka Niki, aka Kiki (dubbed by my nephew as a baby... who cares that he's almost 18 years old now?).
I'm the older (and wiser) of the Nikis... okay, only by six months, but do you know how much a six month old has on a newborn? Exactly.
Anyway, I live in the District. Yeah, I'm tired of saying Washington or DC or the Capitol, so I'm going all hipster on this one. I have a fantastical day job that I'm in love with and don't plan on sharing with you. Not because I don't want you to know or anything. Just to keep things separate. Trust me, there's plenty going on in this here noggin and we won't run out of topics. Anyhoo, I have the prettiest dog in the world and together we DVR amazing shows, terrorize smaller dogs and shop online. You should really see the things she purchses in the privacy of her own home. Without my little canine, I love to hang out with my sweetie and obsessively watch entire seasons of shows. (It's better this way, trust me.) I also love yoga, cooking, fashion and being a germaphobe. My secret calling is to be an indulgently luxe interior designer with clients who have unlimited budgets. Just FYI, in case that's you. Oh, and I'm also the one who overuses ellipses and parentheses. So when we do joint posts, you'll totally be on to me.

This collage also happens to chronicle my hair progressively getting shorter... |
Niki: aka Dos, aka Poca-hot-mess (in another life as a roller derby champ, because in this life I have a deeply rooted fear of roller-skates).
I’m the younger and more easily distracted of the Nikis, residing in the wonderful city of Tampa, FL. My career consists of working jobs to pay for a postbac education & a car that likes to break down constantly – pretty sure I’ve worked almost every job imaginable by this point (cake decorator? Check. Events promoter? Yup. Photo Assistant? Uh huh), and it’s been awesome, because I’d be bored otherwise. I love people, yoga, being outside, and… well, I love everything. I’m the “Why?” person you hated in your college classes – my superpower is unquenchable curiosity. I have a soft spot for science, breaking electronics open & seeing how they work, finding super-awesome iPhone apps (usually having to do with photography), as well as crafting/creating things - my favorites are sewing creatures for friends and reconstructing thrift store dresses. In my dream life, my job is running a successful Etsy store that pays for tuition/bills & passing it on to an even better crafter when I get to med school (after which, I’ll save the world, of course). I admit to excessive semicolon & comma usage, on top of a deeply committed (if somewhat worrisome) love of Hipstamatic. So when you come across a heavily semicoloned post dotted with cliché iPhone photography… that would be me. You’ll learn to love it -I’m an acquired taste.
So there you have it - thanks for stopping by and giving us a chance to grace your overstuffed Google Reader. Please don't keep us at the bottom. We love folders, we promise. Oh and next time you won't have to do this much reading! We promise that, too!
